BlackBerry announced a brand new smartphone. It may hear like a surprise. Because BlackBerry, the Canadian firm has been struggling in the choppy hardware waters. The BlackBerry DTEK50 have an attempt to steady the ship while they release the world's most secure Android smartphone.

This new BlackBerry has added their own privacy and security features from BB 10 and BES 10 to Google's offering. These features made this Android platform even more secure.

DTEK50 is a newly released phone which can give you the taste of most secure voice calls, text messages, and file sharing capabilities. The DTEK app allows the user to control and monitor the security and privacy settings and status on the handset.

Don't you wonder, if the DTEK name comes from DTEK app then where the 50 comes from? It's a continuation of BlackBerry's numbering scheme. The numbering was Q5, Q10, Z10, Z30. And then it jumped to 50. It's the next logical step.

BlackBerry declared this phone as the safest phone, but the actual truth is it will give you same level protection like the BlackBerry Priv. So you can say that you are able to find multiple safest smartphone from this Canadian firm.

The target market is mainly enterprise, but with a solid-looking spec list and an attractive $299, £275 (around AU$400) price tag, you can't rule the BlackBerry DTEK50 out of the consumer market. Those who are looking for a solid, affordable smartphone with much security, can choose this phone without any hesitation.

I have got hands-on the world's most secure Android smartphone. Let's see what is so much special about this new item.

Let's check it's Design and Display:

DTEK50 is not any type of flagship device. It is with the removal of the iconic physical keys. It will emerge this handset that will likely appeal to a much wider market.

It is usual to say that they haven't done anything more attractive in the design department of DTEK50. And the firm confirmed about using off-the-shelf reference device from TCL, the manufacturer. But it is very attractive to say and know that hardware and software gave the made the handset better with BlackBerry look and feel.

The DTEK50 is also a modified version of Alcatel Idol 4, so when similar phones get released and it may not be the most appealing phone around, you will be able to find this phone with low price tag. But it will still be delivering on performance.

If you look at the back design of the DTEK50, you will be able to see a grippy soft-touch rear. It will give the handset some slightly rugged feel in your hand.

The phone will not be winning any type of award for its cutting-edge design or premium appeal. But the metal frames of it will feel solid. It also has the manageable 147 x 72.5 x 7.4mm dimension. It will enable it to nestle nicely into the palm.

You will love to hear that DTEK50 is the thinnest BlackBerry ever! If your pocket bulge is a concern, then this handset shouldn't worry you at all. Its weight is 135g. So it is surprisingly light to carry.

You will be able to find the power or lock key resides on the left of the handset. The volume rocker on the right is joined by a centralized round button. BlackBerry calls it 'action key'. It's also reminiscent of Sony's power/lock key which is used in Xperia devices. It is confusing that it looks to be the more obvious power option.

This is also a programmable button that enables you to access an oft-used app, task or function of your choosing.

If you have a habit of finding yourself with constantly firing up Instagram, or forever diving into your email inbox, then the action key will provide you a useful way of quickly accessing them all.

The 5.2-inch full HD screen is very brighter and clear. So with the considering the price tag of the handset it is a very good offering. It may not look as colorful as AMOLED panels, but there's very little to complain about it.

Specifications and performances:

A solid design and decent display are not the best features of DTEK50. But it has also a Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera with a selfie flash, a 2610mAh battery, and a microSD slot.

The expandable memory slot supports cards up to 2TB in size, and this additional space can be adopted by the Android operating system, so the DTEK50 will treat it as internal storage. This makes your card work more seamlessly with the phone and reduces storage headaches.

Now let's talk about its performance. Navigation is smooth, and load times in general seem to be quick. And in highly demanding tasks, the signs are positive.

This phone uses Android Marshmallow, and BlackBerry has done very little to mess with the experience. A fleet of BlackBerry apps come pre-installed, including the excellent BlackBerry Hub, which pulls all your messages and notifications into one handy application.

BlackBerry has also added the Productivity Edge, which is accessed by swiping in from the right of the display. This gives you quick access to emails, contacts, calendar entries and tasks, and reduces the amount of app-hopping required to reach key information.

The keyboard is another area where BlackBerry has added its own touch – and it claims it has a class-leading offering. While that's very much up for debate, the good news is if you don't like it you can grab an alternative from the Play Store in next to no time.

It's the security aspects will really be grabbing many people's attractions. As well as baking in its own security protocols from the chip level up, BlackBerry's new smartphone comes with the DTEK app. This app makes security simple for everyone. It clearly shows you how to secure your phone and also provides tips on how to improve the rating.

Conclusion:

The BlackBerry DTEK50 is a surprisingly promising smartphone. It is more than a reasonable price tag and a specification sheet to be proud of.

The design of this handset is not any wow type. This will also not blow you away with flagship features. But this phone will fully encrypt all your data, makes it easy for you to monitor your privacy, and ensures everything is secure.
