Google is tracking you right now! Know how -
Most of us think that Google can only track us if we sign in for any Google products. Gmail and Google Plus can be a big example for that. But it is not true. Google can track 90 percent of Internet users worldwide and they do. And Google doesn't care that if the people is not a Google product user but still, he will be tracked. So you can say all of us is being monitored. You are too!
You might be confused that, if you don't use Google products, then how they track you? Let's make a point, someone sent you an email. That means email communication. After clicking on the send button, the message goes through several email servers until it reaches to the email server near to you. When you open an email, you always see just four fields in its header. And those fields are From, To, Date, and Subject. But there is some email system that allows its user to see much more information. If you expand a header, you will be able to see many lines that contain technical information. Those technical information's also includes the name of computer servers that your message passed on.
I am sure enough that one of those email servers was a Google server. Because some specific servers are used to pass every email. And when Google server passes your email, they also scan it. Did you ever saw ads of product that you were just talking about on an email with your friend? If you ever, then it is because you were scanned. Google Buzz (failed social network by Google) was built entirely using information in Gmail messages. And it revealed who was friends with whom.
Here we have included a partial list of tracking methods that Google always use.
The Search Engine
Most of the people search on Google whenever they have any issues. They use it - for health information, any news update, to find any events nearby, to handle kids, and many others. Every search allows the search engine to track users interests, character, religious beliefs, medical problems, personal problem, parenting challenges, political view and so on. If we say it in one line, it would be - A single search in Google, gives them a lot of information about us.
You may ask what happens if they get information about my interests? They don't even know my name or identity. OK. It's completely ok to ask such type of question. But the problem is they don't need to know your name, they already have your IP address. And each computer or smartphone has a unique IP address. But if needed the company can eventually find your name, address, and telephone number, too. When the user uses any Google product, Google installs an identifier cookie on the users' device. So it becomes easier to track and get information about the user in future. Another thing is Google always reads and stores every alphabet that user types in the search bar. Even if he don't hit the enter button too.
Google has a service named Adsense. Adsense is used for advertising. Google store your search history and use it to show you personalized ads. About 97 percent of the revenues of Google are from advertising.
Email Service
Gmail, the email system by Google. Gmail scans each incoming and outgoing messages. They don't care about whether the email is going or coming from. They always scan. If you delete your email history from your inbox or trash, you are still not safe. Because you are deleting, not they are. You will wonder to know that Google also saves copies of your drafted emails that were not decided to send. And there are many Google servers, which route the emails of thousands of companies that don't care about this risk. So whether you use Gmail, write to anyone who is a user of Gmail, or in some cases simply email, Google is receiving your info.
Google+
If you are a regular or irregular user of Google+, then you are a good volunteer. Because you are performing a great deal through telling Google about your everything. You can say you are doing the same with Facebook. But Facebook is a toddler in front of Google. So as an elder, Google knows how to use your information in their business.
Chrome - The Fastest Web Browser
Chrome is a web browser owned by Google. It was released on 2008 to compete with Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and other popular browsers of that time. Now it is said to be the fastest and most used browser ever. Did you ever think the reason of introducing the full free web browser to the world? This might be the reason - using Chrome, Google will be able to directly track which website you are visiting. And they are able to do this without getting the help of search engine. The search engine could not provide all information about you. It only tells the company about your interests and where you need more information in. So Chrome is here to help them. Chrome track your daily website visiting activities, those activities which you don't need to research for. As an example, you are chatting with your bank or employer - and spying here wasn't so easy for Google without Chrome. Google incognito mode is not secure so. They always keep tracking you.
Firefox
You can directly say - What??? Are you mad?? But we can surely say, we are not. Then you may have on your mind that how Google can track when the user is using a competing browser maintained by a non-profit organization. Google can do it. Whenever you put any link or search item on Firefox search bar, takes you to your destination. But before going there, it checks to see whether that website is on Google's blacklist or not. Google maintains a list of dangerous websites. Nobody ever gave Google the permission to maintain such a list, but the list exists. And browsers like Firefox uses the list. So Google gets alerted when you any visit websites using Firefox. You will get confused to know the fact that Mozilla Corporation receives 85 percent of its annual income from Google. And for that reason, Google search engine always becomes the default search engine for Firefox users.
Safari - The Browser owned by Apple
It's good for you to know that Google was fined $22.5 million by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) for illegally tracking users of Apple products. Google essentially hacked Apple's Safari browser and as the result, they were fined. But do the only fine solves all the problems? Safari also uses Google's blacklist to check the safety of websites other browsers.
Android
Android is one of the most used mobile operating systems. But what could be the hidden reason behind this? Why do they want to compete with operating systems developed by Research in Motion and Apple? Ohh, maybe because operating systems are more helpful than browsers. Everything you do in your phone run through the operating system. Android gives Google full access to your activities. Google can ask Android for any type of information they need about the user. Now Google is planning to create an operating system for computer users too.
YouTube
YouTube was founded in 2006. Youtube gives Google access to another set of insights into consumer preferences. When any user spends hours on YouTube from watching this video or that video, Google smoothly gets information of what the user enjoys much.
Google Analytics
Almost 75% of popular websites use Google Analytics to get statistics about who is visiting their website. Visitors don't have any idea on which website is using Analytics. But it is present and watching them just like the best spy. Google is tracking every information about the user. And through analytics, they are doing it with an authorization of the website owner. The user has no way to go.
Google AdSense
Google gets its 97% revenue from Google Adsense. Adsense is being used in millions of web pages, and it shows some small ads provided by Google on the website. The ads are personalized and based on your search or activities. We told you about this process before. So you are reading the contents of a website after some time you may also click on the ads. Okay, I know what you may think right now. you may think that Google will start receiving your info when you click on the ads. But the actual thing is Google starts to capture your information from the moment you load a page containing an ad. So when you click on the ad, it just gives Google some more detailed info.
Google AdWords
If Adsense ads fail to provide as the information they wanted, they made another way for them named Google AdWords. AdWords allows website owners to embed Google ads into words of the contents. When the user loads a page with AdWords enabled, Google has got another chance to find you.
That's all we have got till now.
Is all this tracking legal?
Yes, It is. You made it legal for them. They include that they may take your information for better user experience in their terms of conditions. And we hit agree without reading it. In other words – you gave permission to track you. So Google is not doing anything without our permission. Read terms of conditions before you hit agree. That will help you to stay safe. Whatever Google does, we cannot stay without them.
We are so happy to see that you came till here. Share this post with your friends to let them know about what Google is doing with us. Comment your thoughts and let everyone know through sharing on social medias.
