The great scientist Nikola Tesla on midnight between July 9 and July 10 of 1856. He arrived at this world during a lightning storm. As this family described to everyone, the midwife who helped his mother to give birth wrung her hands and said this type lighting is a bad omen. And she also declared that the child will be a child of darkness. But his mother replied to her negatively and said that he will be a son of light.

There was a sorrowful event on Tesla's life. He witnessed the death of his older brother Dane in his childhood. The mystery was, after his brother's death, he began to see visions of the air around him. And visions were something like tounges of flames. After some years, he learned to control the visions. But he claimed in later life that he can mystically communicate with pigeons of New York city.

Someone with great sense of humor

Most of the peoples think that Tesla was a strict man who was used to always think about his work or inventions. But it's not true. Seifer said that Tesla had an extraordinary sense of humor. As an example, you can check the below text. Tesla wrote this to one of his close friends, after dining with Mr. Rudyard Kipling.

April 1, 1901
My dear Mrs. Johnson,

What is the matter with inkspiller Kipling? He actually dared to invite me to dine in an obscure hotel where I would be sure to get hair and cockroaches in the soup.

Yours truly,
N. Tesla

Tesla died in 1943. His used stuff's were taken by the Office of Alien Property. As his memory, most of the things were given to his family and some were taken by Tesla Museum. Some of his documents are still classified by the U.S. Government.

Tesla vs. Edison

There are many meme's or pictures on the internet which indicate that Tesla and Edison were enemies. But W. Bernard Carlson says that the relationship between them is being misrepresented. In early days of Tesla's career, Tesla used to work for Edison. But they were the opponent of each other in “Current Wars”. Just like Bill Gates vs Steve Jobs.

Environment Lover Tesla!

As Jane Alcorn said, Tesla was too worried about the resources of this planet. Because people consuming it too fast. He wanted to make all the available resources renewable. And that's why he studied on the ways of gathering the natural energy from the soil and air. He also created artificial lightning in his lab to detect differences in electrical potential on Earth and on high objects.

Idea for smartphone technology

Tesla had a brilliant mind, but he was not good at turning his ideas to practice. Carlson said in his book that Tesla was the first person to think about information revolution. He had the idea to communicate instantly.

Tesla was a humanist!

This inventor was a great humanist. As Alcorn said, “he did what he did for the sake of the betterment of mankind and wanted to give people an opportunity to have a better quality of life. Thus, he never seemed to care about monetary gain and never had enough money for his research.”

Tesla had many wealthy friends, but he was not like them. He was known as a pool player who liked to hustle for tiny amounts of money.

He scared Mark Twain

Tesla had an earthquake machine in his Manhattan laboratory. That daring machine shook his building and nearly brought down the neighborhood when he was experimenting.

But that machine was not an actual earthquake machine. As Carlson said, it was a high-frequency oscillator. Twain was known for always having many problems. Tesla knew Twain through their gentlemen’s club. One day, Tesla invited him in his lab. He instructed Twain to stand on the platform and Tesla flipped on the oscillator. After almost 90 seconds, Twain jumped off from the platform and ran for the facilities.

Tesla and his friends

Most of the people don't know that Tesla was a close friend of conservationist John Muir. Marc J. Seifer said that Muir (one of the founders of the Sierra Club) loved the Tesla’s hydroelectric power system. Because it was a clean energy system. It was used to run on waterfalls. His some more friends were financiers Henry Clay Frick and Thomas Fortune Ryan.

Insomnia and obsessive-compulsive behaviors

Tesla claimed that he slept only 2 hours each night. But he occasionally took an afternoon nap. This great scientist always hated jewelry and objects that are round. He also could not bear to touch his hair. Also, he was obsessed with the number 3. He had a habit of polishing each point of the dining room before dining. And it is said that he used precisely 18 napkins for that.

Tesla hated pearls

Tesla hated pearls so much that he could not stand the sight of pearls. Even he refused to speak to women who wears them. He had a secretary who wore pearl jewelry a day, he sent her home for the whole day. Everyone was unable to explain the reason for such an aversion. In order to be successful, the person needed to look successful. So he wore white gloves to dinner every night.

Photographic memory with fear of germs

Tesla was known to memorize books and images in his mind and use the visions for inventions. As people thinks, he also had a powerful imagination power and the ability to visualize in 3D. He used this power to control the vivid nightmares. This power made him more mystical and eccentric character in popular culture.

Electricity sucking tower

Tesla built an 185-foot tall tower on Long Island, NY. His plan was to suck electricity out of the air and send it through the earth. But it didn't work. In 1917, the tower was torn down. The government blamed that the Germans were supposedly using it as a spy tower.
